The Rooms of Perception

This journey started with my dissertation paper which was about Cubism and Fashion.

Cubism was created by the desire to break away from the traditional view and attempt a new perspective toward a world already experiencing tremendous societal and cultural changes, and became an extraordinary movement which pulled the world in even more creative and distinctive ways.

(Fashion Inspired by Cubism 2020)

This project, greatly inspired by both Cubism and Surrealism, has been exploring the perception and interpretation of my inner voices. I truly believe that there are countless rooms in our perceptions of objects and situations, so this project illustrates these Rooms of Perception.

Based on this idea, the "How I Perceive..." series is an attempt to focus on and navigate my memories, each of which is built upon my senses, emotions, and the reimagining of the past.

“How I Perceive an Umbrella" is first in the "How I Perceive..." project.

Based on my perceptional navigation around an umbrella, I made a visual narrative video with scenes interpreted from my memories related to the umbrella itself and how I reimagine the shape of an umbrella.

The scenes from the video were the direct inspiration for curating rooms filled with my fashion objects.

“How I Perceive an Umbrella” is a digital fashion exhibition platform.
