“In order to design buildings with a sensuous connection to life, one must think in a way that goes far beyond form and construction.” - Peter Zumthor

We always have a “feeling” when we enter a space - the sound, the smell or the light - things that we can actually perceive in a fraction of a second. I always see architecture as an experience that combines all the elements.

The Thesis Design Project proposes an experiential showroom for the luxury mattress brand ‘Savoir’. The building will provide a place for clients to stay overnight and experience the quality of the Savoir mattress prior to purchase. The project aims to create a calm and introspective space with raw yet refined quality.

As the main activity inside the building is sleeping the usual preoccupation with daylight is replaced with an interest in darkness. Dim light, pale moonlight, and subtle translucency are elements that enrich the pure darkness. It’s about a luxury within where tactile qualities compliment the interior details of the space.
