Xiaoqin Li

Xiaoqin Li is a footwear designer who tries to make shoes interesting and fun.

Her work are inspired by the feelings she gets from wearing shoes at every moment.

Shoes and feet are interconnected, and shoes are small sculptures that are constantly changing.

Xiaoqin want to feel a new form in every movement.

Compared to adults, kids can act and think freely without cognitive boundaries. Their thoughts and feelings about objects originate from themselves and are not influenced by the outside world.

When I was a child I was easily attracted to playful details. The objects and environment around me helped me learn to perceive the world; the toys I liked, the things I touched. Even as I grow up I still want to explore the world with the naivety and curiosity of my childhood.

In this footwear collection, I have tried to explore design through the eyes of a child, capturing their playful innocence and pushing back against the design language and rules defined in our adult world.

The world of a child is simple and innocent.

They perceive the world with their own instinctive eactions.
