Ye Yuan

Ye’s Background is Fashion Design (Menswear) & Technology (Pattern and Handcraft). He works at fashion week in China during his BA course and after graduation in 2017 from China. But recently he is mainly based in London and he would like to be a wandering fashion designer because he is a wanderlust.

He is good at Linen, Silk and Latex, Meanwhile, he is focused on the work of how to develop get together traditional handcraft with smart technology in the future fashion.

Ye was interested in what decides our gender (ex. what is the identity of gender?) and how it will change the male’s body shape and future fashion when the Y-chromosome is disappearing in the future.

Therefore, Ye created a model of the new body shape and get together developed digital and physical to show the future gender scenarios for fashion. Ye created public spaces and make performance in the digital to show freedom of gender and Ye exhibited the garment of digital 1-1 in the physical and make a performance in the Asian's city bus stop.

I am interested in what is decide gender through gay pride, in the DNA environment, the X-chromosome and Y-chromosome decide our gender when we come to this world for the first time. Meanwhile, the Y-chromosome is a very important part to decide whether the gender is male.

However, according to ‘Nature’ magazine, the Y-chromosome is disappearing now, so how it will change the male’s body shape when the Y-chromosome disappears in the future? Will it be changed to a double X chromosome form as female? Or whether will it become a new form of XV-chromosome? and what will change bring to the future fashion because of the Y-chromosome in the future?
